I wanted to share with you something that happened the other day. I was on Facebook posting my daily inspirational saying like I do everyday and what do you know, I get an IM from one of my Facebook friends. Now, this is a friend of mine on Facebook, but I have not connected with this person one on one. I will be honest and tell you that if people used to IM me, I used to go offline real quick and basically run away from them. I was scared to chat with people on IM – isn’t that funny!?!
 
But, after gaining lots of confidence, I welcome people sending me an IM. Why? Because in most of the time, if we have been chatting for a period of time, it is almost guaranteed that I will get them to watch my company’s presentation!
 
Pretty cool skill to have, huh?
 
So, I wanted to share with you an example of a chat that I had with a friend on Facebook – just so you can see that if you have the right posture and ask them questions and truly build the rapport with someone, you can also have more people watching your company’s presentations too.
 
Here is an example of a Facebook instant message that I had with a gentleman at 8:00AM! He initiated contact with me, so what did I do…..I prospected him! : )
 
I was able to get him committed to watch a presentation within 25 minutes of the start of our chat.
 
One reason why I feel this strategy works so well is because I am in a network marketing company that has no competition! If you were chatting with a fellow network marketer and both of you are in a health and wellness company, I would bet that the chat would turn into who had the best vitamins or shakes. While this strategy will work in any MLM, I do believe it works better with an mlm that is unique.
 
Keep in mind that I was rushing with this chat because I had to get my 3 kids ready and out the door at 8:40am to catch their bus!
 
A couple things to note:
1). I kept the conversation personal as I could given the limited amount of time I had – usually I would ask more personal questions about his past jobs, etc…
2). I did not explain my company at all. Usually, I do not even mention my company because this increases curiosity, but since he asked, I wasn’t going to lie or hide what company I was in.

This person DID give me his phone number and I called him at the time that was discussed. As of yet, he has not joined my business, but some won’t. NEXT!
 
I have also used this same strategy to enroll people within an hour of me starting a chat with them, so you just never know what is going to happen.

There are many reason why a person struggles in building their business online. I have listed only 13 of them and ones that too often many people may not even have considered before.
 
1). Your Upline. Unfortunately, your sponsor has no clue how to build a successful business online either. So, where do you go to learn how?
 
2). No Mentor. If you don’t have a mentor to show you how to be successful online, you run the risk of “trying things” on your own. This can be both a waste of time and money. If you had a mentor to teach you how to market online step by step, doesn’t that sound easier than trying to figure it out on your own?
 
3). Mentors. Take notice – you need more than one mentor. If you only have one mentor, you are limited to their knowledge and skillset and that is it. So, if your mentor is running a pay per click campaign that costs them $5000 per month to run and you have no marketing budget, how does that help you? That will be great to learn once you have the budget, but for now, that would not do you any good. You need many mentors to show you different types of marketing that fits your personality and budget.
 
4). Successful Mentors. You need successful mentors, not just anyone off of the street. You need people that do this marketing everyday and that are proven to be a success and want to help you!
 
5). Branding. If you have a company of 50,000 reps and you all are marketing your company replicated website all over the internet, what makes YOU stand out? What makes you different? Why should people join you in your business over someone else? You need to be different, you need to stand out and you need to give people reasons why they should join you and only you in business.
 
6 ). Don’t be a salesman. A salesman is one that just goes on the internet and posts their company website all over the place and expects people to just sign up. It doesn’t happen that way. I know that this is how you are taught to do by your upline, but what are your results? Is it working for you? Network Marketing is not sales. It is all about building relationships, then presenting the opportunity. It is not about selling.
 
7. Exposure. I want you to think about how many times you researched your company before you joined. Probably a couple, right? Statistics show that it can take up to 7 plus exposures before someone joins a company. This is one reason why if you direct people to your website, they don’t join right away, because they may need to see it over and over before they decide to join. So, this brings us to number #8.
 
8. Follow-up. When someone visits your website, you need to have a form for them to fill out for them to leave their name, email, and phone number, so you can follow up with them via email and phone and expose them as many times as needed until they join you in business.
 
9. Build Relationships. For the follow-up, you don’t just want to send them to your website, unless you are a born salesman. When you speak to your new prospect, get to know THEM. Ask questions about them and why they are looking to join a business. Be personal with them and listen to what they are telling you. Build the rapport.
 
10. Sales. When you build relationships, you build trust, when you build trust, sales with convert a lot easier than selling and people will be asking you about joining your business.
 
11. Leads. If it is your desire to create a fulltime income, you need to generate 20-25 leads everyday. Most people won’t tell you this, but these are the facts. You need to learn how to do this the right way without wasting a lot of time and money.
 
12. Funded Proposals. People quit their business because they run out of money too fast. Paying their bills become more important then their autoship. When this happens people lose faith and confidence of building a business and achieving their dreams. Not everyone will join your business, those are the facts, so funded proposals are a must to help with the business expenses of your business.
 
13. A System. Systems are using to help automate processes to help save time and money. You need to have a system in place to help you do all of the steps mentioned above.
